Atsuko Tanaka, the Japanese voice of Bayonetta, has handed away after an unnamed sickness she had lived with for greater than a 12 months. She was 61 years of age.
The information of her passing was shared by her son Hikaru Tanaka on social media earlier this week. He mentioned she “fought… with grace, humour and power” throughout her sickness.
“I imagine it was a life that was actually attribute of Atsuko Tanaka,” her son wrote (translated by Anime Nook). “I really feel actually blessed to have had such a proud mom.”
This morning, Bayonetta developer PlatinumGames shared its personal unhappiness on listening to of Tanaka’s demise.
“We’re extremely saddened to listen to of the passing of Atsuko Tanaka, who offered the Japanese voice of the titular character within the Bayonetta sequence,” it wrote. “We’re extraordinarily grateful to her for respiratory life into the character of Bayonetta, and provide our deepest condolences to her family members at this troublesome time.”
Along with her function as Bayonetta, Tanaka can be identified for her portrayal of Ghost within the Shell’s Kusanagi Motoko, in addition to a lot of online game sequence, together with Lara Croft in earlier Tomb Raider video games, Yennefer in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Trish in Satan Might Cry 5.
