جاء عن العباس رضى الله عنه قال : قلت يا رسول الله دعاني إلى الدخول فى دينك أمارة لنبوتك , رأيتك فى المهد تناغي القمر وتشير إليه بإصبعك فحيث أشرت إليه مال , قال : إني كنت أحدثه ويحدثني ويلهيني عن البكاء وأسمع وجبته حين يسجد تحت العرش.
وهذه أبيات جميلة قالها العباس في شرفه صلى الله عليه وسلم .. فقد جاء أنه قال لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : إني أريد أن امتدحك .. قال : قل لا يفضض الله فاك – فما فض ولا سقط له سن حتى مات – فقال شعراً :
من قبلها طبت في الظلال وفي ** مستودع حيث يخصف الورق
ثم هبطت البلاد لا بشر ** أنت ولا مضغة ولا علق
بل نطفة تركب السفين وقد ** ألجم نسرا وأهله الغرق
تنقل من صالب إلى رحم ** إذا مضى عالم بدا طبق
وردت نار الخليل مستترا ** في صلبه أنت كيف يحترق
حتى احتوى بيتك المهيمن من ** خندف علياء تحتها النطق
وأنت لما ولدت اشرقت الـ ** أرض وضاءت بنورك الأفق
فنحن في ذلك الضياء وفي ** النور سبل الرشاد نخترق
اللهم صل وسلم وبارك عليه وعلى آله وزده تشريفاً وتعظيماً ..
